Veo 3: Make Veo 3.1 Videos with Sound from a Prompt or a Photo

What is Google Veo?
Veo is the video model from Google DeepMind, and since its third generation it has made the picture and the sound in one go: footsteps, traffic, wind in the trees, even a line of dialogue you write into the prompt. Its clips lean cinematic, with careful lighting and deliberate camera moves. Plimo runs Veo 3.1 Fast, the quicker, lower-cost tier Google released alongside the full model. On Plimo every clip is a fixed 8 seconds, wide or vertical, at 720p, 1080p or 4K, and always has audio.

How Google's Veo got here
May 2024
Veo
Announced at Google I/O, with clips that could run past a minute in a range of cinematic styles.
December 2024
Veo 2
A better grasp of real-world physics and human movement, much sharper output, and prompts that could ask for a specific lens, genre or film effect.
May 2025
Google Veo 3
The first Veo to generate audio along with the video, from city noise to characters talking to each other. A faster, cheaper Fast tier followed for developers, and vertical video arrived that September.
October 2025
Veo 3.1
Richer sound, more control over how a story unfolds, stronger photo animation, up to three reference images to keep a character or object consistent, and clips that bridge a first and a last frame. A quicker, lower-cost Fast version launched alongside it.
How to make a Veo video on Plimo
Veo is ready in the generator
The generator at the top of this page starts with Veo already selected. Swap to another model from the menu whenever you like; the page saves that choice.Write the shot and the sound
A prompt is required. Say what happens and what we should hear, for example: rain on a tin roof, a dog barks once, and the girl at the window whispers that it's stopped.Add frames or references if you have them
Put a photo in the start frame slot, and another in the end slot if you want to decide where the clip lands. Or give Veo up to 3 reference photos of a character or product instead.Pick wide or vertical, then generate
Choose 16:9 or 9:16 and a quality level, sign in, and press Generate. Length is always 8 seconds, so only quality changes the credit count shown on the button.Keep it or try again
Your clip lands in My creations below the generator. Download it, or press Remake to put the prompt and photos back and adjust the wording.
Why use Veo on Plimo
Price set by quality alone
Every Veo clip runs the same length, so only the quality changes the price: 720p and 1080p cost the same, 4K costs more, and the Generate button shows the amount before you commit.Ready for business use
Clips you generate while you have a membership come without a watermark and can be used commercially, from a café promo to a client's product teaser.Dialogue and sound in one pass
Write a spoken line or the noises you want into the prompt and they come back inside the clip, so there is no separate voiceover or sound effects to line up afterwards.Anchor the shot with your own photos
Start frame, end frame and up to 3 reference photo slots sit next to the prompt, so a product, a pet or a face from your camera roll can hold the shot together.
Veo compared with other video models
Veo is the pick for short, polished shots with sound. Here is what the other families do differently.
Kling
Kling 4.0 lets you set anything from 3 to 30 seconds, adds a square format, and can edit a video you upload, where Veo works only from text and photos.
Seedance
Veo is fixed at 8 seconds, while Seedance 2.5 lets you pick a length of up to 30 seconds and switch the sound off, which Veo never does.
Hailuo AI
The Hailuo models go up to 15 seconds in more frame shapes, including ultra-wide 21:9, and can copy motion from reference clips.
Grok Imagine
Where Veo can open on your photo as the first frame, Grok Imagine 1.5 only takes reference photos, up to seven, and its clips run 6 to 15 seconds rather than a fixed eight.
Wan
Wan 3.0 also takes start and end frames, but adds a length you set from 2 to 30 seconds and accepts reference clips, which Veo doesn't.
Vidu
Vidu Q3 Pro makes clips from a sentence or start and end frames, and Q4 Preview can blend as many as fifteen reference photos, both up to 16 seconds.
FLUX
FLUX 3 Video offers a cheap draft mode to preview an idea before rendering a final clip of up to 20 seconds, and FLUX 3 Image handles stills.
SkyReels
SkyReels V4 Std and V4 Fast share the same settings, work from text, frames or up to three reference photos, and offer more frame shapes than Veo's two.
HappyHorse
HappyHorse 1.1 is made for combining many photos, up to nine reference images in one clip, though it has no end frame.
What to make with Veo
An opening shot for your short film
Write a slow push-in on a detective in a rain-soaked alley, with the hum of a neon sign and sirens somewhere far off. Eight seconds is exactly the length of a good cold open.A character who speaks your line
Put the words in quotes, such as a grandmother leaning toward the camera and saying 'Call your mother more often', and Veo voices the line in the clip.Vertical clips for Reels and Shorts
Choose 9:16 and describe something made for a phone screen, like latte art being poured from above with the clink of the cup on the saucer.A holiday photo that breathes
Use a beach photo from your trip as the start frame and ask for waves rolling in, gulls overhead and the hiss of the surf. From sketch to finished piece
Set a pencil sketch as the start frame and the finished painting as the end frame, and Veo works out the eight seconds in between.A mascot that stays on model
Give Veo three reference photos of your brand mascot from different angles and describe it waving from a shop window. A clip made during a membership can run as an ad.Close-ups of food and nature
Macro shots, such as a honeybee landing on lavender or butter melting over pancakes, suit Veo's cinematic look, and the sizzle or buzz comes with them.
